In this paper, we critically analyzed possibilities of probability density function (PDF) methods for the closed-form description combustion chemical effects in turbulent premixed flames. We came to conclusion that concept a classical modeling strategy PDF method based on use reaction-independent mixing models is not applicable The reason strong dependence reactions due thin-reaction-zone nature confirmed recent optical studies and direct numerical simulations. case, effect caused by coupled reaction–diffusion processes take place thin zones instantaneous combustion. considered possible alternative strategies would allow be described closed form only hypothetical case where occurs reaction identical zone undisturbed laminar flame.
